Omg, a Robot Vacuum Cleaner Was Spotted on the Run After the Big California Earthquake

NorCal’s massive 7.0-magnitude earthquake on Thursday shook the ground so much that it helped birth a new cultural icon: a robotic vacuum cleaner that left its home to take on the world.

About two years ago, our hearts were collectively snatched when this Roomba left her dock in San Francisco and chose to take on the world.

She was poised, prepared, engaged — a heroine of our time. She did, in fact, not need a man … or any human oppressor. Streaming Iggy Azalea’s pop-working-gurl anthem, “Work” — “No money, no family. [60 minutes of battery life] in the middle of [San Francisco]” — she cleaned up sidewalks inside San Francisco’s Castro neighborhood. Where she’s at now, one could only speculate. But she shot for the moon; it’s inevitable she’ll land somewhere among the stars.

She was also a trendsetter for her kind, as evidenced by yet another NorCal robotic vacuum cleaner making a run for freedom … moments after a 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Eureka.

As reported by ABC7 News, a disobedient robotic vacuum was filmed by residents of Fortuna, a small town of around 12,000 individuals, traveling up a suburban road — closing in on her autonomous dreams.

The short thirty-second video shows the self-operating cleaning device going at a good click up an even asphalt road; unlike San Francisco’s rogue Roomba, this one wasn’t keen on tidying up, choosing to instead travel in an arrow-straight path.

Through giggling, a woman in the video asks, “Is that a vacuum cleaner?” before someone else confirms it is—“It probably came out of that garage.” (An open garage is pictured in the background of the video.)

Before the video ends, a woman slinked in sleepwear and wearing loafers is seen approaching the robotic vacuum cleaner … debating whether or not to redirect her or turn her off altogether.

For all that’s left good and just and pure in this world (and there’s little of that left, to be frank), we hope she gave our queen an opportunity to forge a new path.
