Katie is, simultaneously, serving leg and showing a love for public transportation
We’re no stranger to showing our unshakable adoration (and support) for all things mass transit. However, we haven’t yet gone as far as to ink our epidermis with that fondness — but a local by the name of “Katie” sure has.
And we’ve very much here for it.
The Twitter account dedicated to SF’s famous “boat tram” — a Muni-operated land vessel that’s famous for shuttling people around the seven-by-seven, primarily during the warmer summer months — shared a picture in May of 2021 of someone by the name of Katie, flashing her boat tram tattoo… as the IRL inspiration for that piece of body art sailed on by.
(Designed and built in England circa 1934, this example of a Blackpool Boat Tram is just one of 12 of the open-topped streetcars ever manufactured; three of them continue to be in operation, including the two purchased by the Market Street Railway; Muni’s boat trams only began cruising in and around the Embarcadero in May of 2019.)
“This is fren katie who has a tattoo of me!!,” reads a tweet from the account. “Wow, a dedicated fan.”
A ride-or-die supporter, indeed.
