The decorated educator and residing First Lady of the United States took an 8 a.m. SoulCycle class in SF’s Castro District Tuesday, causing an early morning motorcade to travel down Market Street.
Most health physicians recommend working out at moderate intensity three or four times a week. At cult-like SoulCycle, heeding that researched-based advice would cost you about $700 a month in the Bay Area — and that’s not including any of the over-inflated store merchandise. (This basic AF, 100% cotton crew neck [that you’d sweat right through], which is themed for Pride, comes in at $138.)

But if you want a surefire way to brag about both your dedication to fitness and wells of disposable income, there’s no better place to break a sweat than SoulCycle. Occasionally, you’ll also have the odd chance to bump slick elbows with people of unfathomable notoriety.
Take for example a lucky early morning SoulCycle class at the studio’s Castro location Tuesday that was attended by none other than First Lady of the United States — “FLOTUS” — Jill Biden, herself.

In the attached video, Biden is seen quickly leaving the workout studio at the corner of Market and Castro streets flanked by security as she enters into a blacked-out Chevy Suburban. “Dr. Biden attended an 8 a.m. spin class with instructor Chris Layda for 45 minutes and was spotted leaving in blue leggings paired with white running shoes and a black top.”
In the background of the brief video, a bystander can be heard shouting “Happy Pride Month, Jill.” FLOTUS, clearly being rushed into the car, quickly throws an unpretentious glance and assuring smile in the direction of the onlooker before she’s brought into the back of the car. Mind you: This is by no means the first time FLOTUS has attended a SoulCycle class — a deep dive on Twitter will prove just that — but it is her first class at San Francisco’s Castro location.
The first lady was apparently in San Francisco fundraising for her husband and President of the United States Joe Biden. The first lady attended an event hosted by Manny’s in the Mission Tuesday night. Per The Standard, it was reported that the event was a small VIP reception with the first lady, and tickets for it were as much as $1,000.
President Biden is also expected to come through the Bay Area this month; the 46th president is scheduled to make a three-day visit to the Bay Area on June 19 — his first since coming to the region after the historic flooding earlier this year to survey decimated parts of Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties. Though the details around his visit remain unclear at this time, it’s feasible to expect the avid ice cream fan and fitness enthusiast to exercise both those interests when he’s here.
TBD on whether or not that means a couple’s SoulCycle outing and athleisure splurge.
