Doggies Farmers Market will see the Haye’s Valley Promenade transform into a canine haven, filled with many good boys and good girls.
San Francisco is unarguably one of the nation’s most dog-friendly major cities; there are few places where you’d run into a roadblock with your fur-child in SF; much like corner store cats, bodega doggos are plentiful; no matter where you are in San Francisco, you’re within a ten-minute walk of a public park — a good amount of which have designated dog runs.
SF will soon set another example for how metropolitan areas can better cater to our four-legged pets when a farmers market dedicated to dogs (and their owners) debuts in Hayes Valley.
“We’re SUPER excited to announce a NEW upcoming series of events in SF for Bay Area pups and parents,” reads a multi-authored post on Instagram announcing the Doggie Farmers Market event series (and ongoing collaboration). In partnership with Hayes Valley Promenade and the Hayes Valley Neighbors Association (HVNA) — the same nonprofit that helped the neighborhood’s Trader Joe’s location successfully open after years of planning — Dogs Bay Area will host San Francisco’s only dog-focused farmers market on the last Saturdays of this summer.
In addition to human goods, a long list of local makers of “dog treats, accessories, and other goodies…all for the dogs” will be onsite; the list of participating small businesses will oscillate from month to month, though some staples will stick around for the series’ entirety; July farmers market-goers can expect goods from the likes of Pezzy Pets, Diamond Dogs Eatery, hand-braided ropes from JAK + PHIL, and more; Tiny Paws Pug Rescue, a California nonprofit that helps abandoned pugs find forever homes, will also be onsite.
“Come out to support your local small dog businesses — the amazing individuals who keep creating for our pups and inspiring us to live our best lives for our dogs, and enjoy the dog-friendly community and beautiful vibes in Hayes Valley,” concludes the post.
For more information on the upcoming Hayes Valley dog farmers market summer series, which will be free to the public (sans any vendor purchases, obviously), follow Dog Bay Area for updates.
