
The body, which is believed to be female, was found at Fulton Street and 22nd Avenue — a few blocks away from an entrance to the Outside Lands music festival.
According to an initial report from The San Francisco Standard, a dog walker discovered the body inside a duffle bag near Golden Gate Park Sunday evening; this was the last day of the Outside Lands (OSL) music festival, where an entrance to the festival could be found at 30th Avenue and Fulton Street; the three-day music festival ended Sunday evening at 9:35 p.m. with Odesza at the OSL’s main stage.
Members of the SF medical examiner’s office and homicide investigators with SFPD were also on the scene.
TBD on basically all other details regarding this truly terrifying situation, but we’ll keep y’all updated as more information arises.
***UPDATE 08/14 (4:35 p.m.): The body inside the duffel bag has been identified as 37-year-old Kelly Koike, a San Francisco resident, who was pronounced dead at the scene; Koike’s body was discovered around 7:24 p.m.; police have yet to determine a cause of death, and her death is considered “suspicious”; there have been no arrests made in Koike’s death as of publishing.
